Week 2 began with a bang, as Thursday Night Football delivered a high-scoring showdown between the Lions and Bills in Buffalo’s brand-new stadium. Several big numbers were posted right out of the gate — and they proved difficult to chase down.
QB Club: Allen Sets the Pace
Josh Allen accounted for five total touchdowns — three through the air and two on the ground — on his way to a season-best 46.2 points.
That was more than enough to take the Week 2 QB Club crown. Allen now owns two of the three highest single-week QB scores of the young season, with only Caleb Williams’ huge Week 1 performance separating them.
There was plenty of scoring elsewhere, too. Six other quarterbacks topped 30 points in Week 2. Jared Goff, Allen’s Thursday night counterpart, finished second, while Dak Prescott, Matthew Stafford, Patrick Mahomes, Brock Purdy and Bryce Young all cleared the 30-point mark.
RB Club: Taylor Steals It on Sunday Night
Jahmyr Gibbs also made an early statement Thursday night, putting up 23.3 points and threatening to win for a second straight week.
For most of Sunday, that score held up. Christian McCaffrey came the closest during the afternoon games, finishing with 22.6 points.
Then came Sunday Night Football.
In an overtime game, Jonathan Taylor was a workhorse and delivered 29.2 points, overtaking Gibbs and claiming the RB Club high score for Week 2.
WR Club: Lamb Wins by a Tenth
The wide receivers had their own Thursday night benchmark to chase.
Amon-Ra St. Brown exploded for 35.2 points in the Lions’ loss, putting up a score that looked almost untouchable.
Almost.
CeeDee Lamb answered on Sunday as Dallas put on an offensive show, and he managed to edge St. Brown by the narrowest of margins. Lamb finished with 35.3 points, taking the Week 2 WR Club win by just one-tenth of a point.
Chris Olave and Jaylen Waddle also had strong weeks, each topping 20 points.
Jaxon Smith Njigba put up 40+, but he still remains unowned and available at the Magic Eden Marketplace.
TE Club: McBride Does It Again
With only four Tight End NFTs currently in circulation — and only three active in Week 2 with Brock Bowers still resting up — the TE Club race was once again tight.
Sam LaPorta grabbed the early lead Thursday night with 17.2 points.
George Kittle then moved ahead with 18.0.
But once again, Trey McBride found a way.
McBride finished with 18.1 points, edging Kittle by one-tenth and winning the TE Club for the second consecutive week.
At this rate, unless a few more Tight End NFTs start getting picked up, the Trey McBride owner may have quite a run this season.
